So they are still making videos for Merrriwether Post Pavilion, which came out around 20 months ago (January 2009, if I’m remembering correctly). This one is suitably trippy and certainly lives up to its name.

An airy, dream-poppy cover of the Band of Horses track, but sung in Swedish (I believe). Really really nice, but doesn’t sound a ton like the original.

The lyrical video for this song came out late last week and has gotten nearly 2 million views in 5 days. Such a great sound to this song. Glad to see Cee-Lo making his own original music after a few Gnarls Barkley albums with Dangermouse.
Also, did you know that this song was written by Bruno Mars, who wrote B.o.B.‘s “Nothin On You” and “Billionaire” by Travie McCoy?

Vincent Cassel plays another role as a notorious french thief/criminal in this sprawling biopic based on Jacques Mesrine’s life that first debuted in Toronto in 2008. This film (the first of a two part, four hour film) is set to open in select theaters in the US on August 27, with part two opening on September 3.
Watch Cassel talk to Anne Thompson about the film and working with directors Steven Soderbergh, Darren Aronofsky and David Cronenburg here.
The two songs that have been stuck in my head for the past week are “Why Don’t You Make Up Your Mind?” by Tame Impala and this song. This beautifully shot black and white was directed by Marcus Söderlund, who has done videos for jj, Miike Snow and The xx.

Another lo-fi, beach influenced group perfect for summer listening. Also, a bit of an old-time, doo woppy vibe to the stuff I have heard off their Baltimore EP (album art below).

Obviously, this is from Asylum. Also obvious: this will be awesome.
