The artwork for the New York chillwave band who released a split with Washed Out earlier this year in addition to backing him on occasion. New Chain comes out October 26 on Jagjaguwar.
A track called “Photojournalists” off the album is available for download here.
Speaking of “da da da da da daaa,” here is a nicely shot and edited fan video for “New Theory.” My favorite part? When the smoke moves to the beat of the song at 1:29.

Beach House/Washed Out
Cat’s Cradle, Carrboro, NC
The second show of a fun concert weekend in RDU. During Washed Out’s brief set, he tried to get the crowd into it as much as he could, even asking people to sing “the easiest chorus ever” to “New Theory” – “Da da da da da daaa” – while his white boy dancing came off as endearing. Beach House were awesome and smokey and nearly every one of their songs off Teen Dream came off as anthems in the small club setting. Really fun show.

More photos can be found in my Concerts 2010 Flickr set
Next up: Possibly Free Energy and The Miniature Tigers at Snug Harbor on 6/2 but if not, then Bonnaroo 2010(!!) from 6/10-6/13
The B side track was included on my latest mix.
A SIDE: You’ll See It (Small Black Remix) – Washed Out
B SIDE: Despicable Dogs (Washed Out Remix) – Small Black

Florence + the Machine – “You’ve Got the Love (XX Remix)” – I don’t know much about Florence + the Machine, but I dig this very xx remix.
Built to Spill – “Oh Yeah” – From the new album There Is No Enemy, a recent performance from Letterman.
Washed Out – “New Theory” – I believe this is a fan-made video for “New Theory” and its very cool and very fitting of the sound of the song.

I’ve been all about Washed Out these past few weeks, and now his friend, fellow “chillwave” artist, and still current Columbia, SC-er Toro Y Moi has remixed his standout “Feel It All Around” for the b-side to the single.
Also, his Life of Leisure EP got a nice score from Pitchfork today.
Also, more great album art.
