This hilarious political satire got some well deserved awards season attention (Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, BAFTA nomination for Best Screenplay – Adapted and Outstanding British Film). It is hilariously profane and a highly recommended watch. And yet again, its another movie I wish I had seen before I made my favorite movies of 2009 list.

The trailer for Edgar Wright’s (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) upcoming film based on the graphic novel of the same name stars Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anna Kendrick, Jason Schwartzman, Aubrey Plaza (“Parks and Recreation”), and several more. To quote The Q, “There Is Nothing About This That Is Not Awesome.”
Meet charming and jobless Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). A bass guitarist for totally average garage band Sex Bob-omb, the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreamsliterally. The only catch to winning Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)? Her seven evil exes are coming to kill him. Genre-smashing filmmaker Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) tells the amazing story of one romantic slackers quest to power up with love in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

The latest trailer for “Treme” (pronounced “tre-may”) debuted earlier this week but just got around to being posted on YouTube. And it actually has some people and action in it. And Bunk! And Freamon! And Steve Zahn from the movies!
Looking forward to it.

From the creators of “The Wire” (which I just finished last night and am still digesting but I am pretty sure it is the best show I’ve ever seen on TV) comes “Treme,” a new dramatic series based in New Orleans three months after Hurricane Katrina. Freamon and Bunk from “The Wire” both star (awesome!), along with Steve Zahn and Khandi Alexander. I can’t wait.
The series premieres on April 11. Read more here.
