1. Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti – “Round and Round” – Something about this song that just worms its way into my brain and won’t leave (but definitely in a good way).

2. The National – “Afraid of Everyone” – “Bloodbuzz Ohio” is great, but this was the first song off High Violet to really hit me. Like, repeat 5 times in a row and wake up with it in my head hit me.

3. LCD Soundsystem – “Pow Pow” – Nearly eight-and-a-half minutes of pure, vintage LCD Soundsystem awesomeness (think “Losing My Edge”).

4. The Morning Benders – “Excuses” – Meticulous production by Chris from Grizzly Bear gives this song a great, almost vintage sound.

5. Tame Impala – “Why Won’t You Make Up Your Mind?” – One of the big discoveries this year for me, kind of a psych-rock sound with some classical rock influences.

Also: Titus Andronicus – “Theme from ‘Cheers'”, Washed Out feat. Caroline Polachek – “You and I”, Neon Indian – Sleep Paralysis”, Big Boi – “Shutter Bugg”
