I have argued the Groundhog Day question many times. I argued at least 100 years, but could probably agree to Ramis’ 30 to 40. The guy linked in that article who said 8 years, 8 months did so on the basis that Bill Murray ONLY did things shown in the movie, but he also seemed to know all about everyone in town, not to mention what other arts he may have learned besides piano and ice sculpting. I still argue for closer to 100 years, but I think anyone who says anything under 30 is an idiot.
