Funny People – Judd Apatow’s third film (directed film, any how) appears to be more of a melodrama with comedic elements as opposed to a straight up comedy. Of course, I will be watching this opening weekend. Funny People stars Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Jason Schwartzman, Eric Bana, Leslie Mann, and the Apatow daughters and comes out on July 31.

Public Enemies – The latest film from Michael Mann looks pretty amazing based on this trailer. I would be excited for a Michael Mann film anyways, but then there’s this killer cast of Johnny Depp as John Dillinger, Christian Bale as Agent  Purvis trying to catch him, Billy Crudup as J. Edgar Hoover, and Marion Cotillard as Dillinger’s girlfriend. One of my more anticipated films of the year.

500 Days of Summer -This could turn out to be another cute indie romantic comedy (a la Garden State or Juno) but the trailer promises that it isn’t a love story, so who knows. Joseph Gordon Levitt is slowly distancing himself from the little dweeb from “3rd Rock From The Sun” in my mind and Zooey Deschanel is cute as always. Director Marc Webb has mostly done music videos to this point (and awful ones at that – Green Day, 3 Doors Down and Jesse McCartney) but I’ve heard promising things about this movie.

The Hangover – Ever since Old School, Todd Philips has gone oh-fer in my eyes. That drought appears to end with The Hangover, which stars Bradley Cooper, a toothless Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis. This is just a short teaser, but the movie looks hilarious based on this. Heather Graham, Jeffrey Tambor, Ken Jeong and Mike Tyson also star.
