1. Candy Cane Joe Joe’s – I don’t know what to say other than that these are ridiculously awesome.

2. Egg Nog – I have looked forward to November and December for years specifically because of egg nog and egg nog milkshakes from Cookout (haven’t had one yet though).

3. Stranglehold (link) – This game got lost in the holiday shuffle last year, but I thought the demo was pretty intriguing. However, it wasn’t until I saw it on clearance for $10 a few months ago that I actually picked it up. It proved to be a very fun and often frustrating third person action game that utilized the Unreal Engine 3 beautifully and added some cool touches – John Woo-esque cinematic trademarks, bullet time, standoffs, and nearly fully-destructible environments.

4. Criminal (link) – A 2004 remake of the Argentine heist film Nine Queens starring John C. Reilly, Diego Luna and Maggie Gyllenhaal. I love John C. Reilly and believe this was one of this first turns as a leading man, but I didn’t feel he wasn’t quite convincing enough as a confidence man. Nonetheless, this was a cool movie reminiscent of Ocean’s Eleven (director Gregory Jacobs has served as second unit director on nearly all of Steven Soderbergh’s films).

5. Olivia Tremor Control – Black Foliage: Animation Music (link) – Other than Neutral Milk Hotel‘s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, probably the penultimate Elephant Six album. Black Foliage is a sprawling album with 27 tracks of Beach Boys-esque harmonies and sound collages. College Tommy would be have been all over this album; 26-year old Tommy appreciates it and wishes he had gotten it years ago as he had planned to.
