1. In Bruges (link) – I had heard good things from Sundance coverage earlier this year, but this definitely exceeded my expectations. A very slickly conceived, well written dark comedy about two hitmen on unexpected holiday in Bruges, Belgium with a good ensemble cast in Brendan Gleeson, Colin Farrell, and Ralph Fiennes. Interesting that three of the cast (Gleeson, Fiennes and Clemence Poesy) have been in Harry Potter films. In any case, highly recommended.

2. Bullitt car chase sequence – It’s one of those iconic scenes I had always heard about and never got around to seeing until now. Mustang vs. Charger, going in speeds in excess of 110 mph around San Francisco, hubcaps flying everywhere: nine-and-a-half minutes of muscle car porn, really. Even more amazing is that Steve McQueen was actually driving (according to IMDb).

3. Wainy Days episode #24, “The Waindow” (link) – Latest episode of the usually hilarious but always bizarre David Wain web series is online now. Elizabeth Reaser guest stars.

4. Santogold – Top Ranking (link) – A Santogold/Diplo mixtape featuring tracks from Three 6 Mafia, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Devo, Aretha, The Clash, Desmond Dekker, and of course Santogold. I’d call it a fun summer soundtrack and there should be a free download at the above link.

5. Miller High Life (link) – Champagne of beers. Enough said.
