– Netflix made the decision yesterday to go Blu-ray exclusive and will phase out HD DVD by the end of the year

– While Best Buy will still have some HD DVD players/discs in stock, it will start officially promoting Blu-ray as the HD format of the future

– In light of this, the HD DVD group has officially responded:

“We have long held the belief that HD DVD is the best format for consumers based on quality and value, and with more than 1 million HD DVD players on the market, it’s unfortunate to see Netflix make the decision to only stock Blu-ray titles going forward. While the Best Buy announcement says they will recommend Blu-ray, at least they will continue to carry HD DVD and offer consumers a choice at retail.”

– In some good news for Xbox 360 owners who are looking to get into HD DVD, the add-on is only $119 – down from $179 – at Best Buy

– Also, 146 discs from Paramount/Dreamworks, Universal and Warner Bros are 50% off at Amazon…FIRE SALE!
