Warners goes Blu-ray: HD Format War over? by Barbecue Bros

Warner Brothers will go Blu-ray exclusive starting in May 2008. I think Warners is a huge get for Blu-ray and may be too big of a setback for the HD DVD camp. In a statement released today, Kevin Tsujihara, President, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group:

“A two-format landscape has led to consumer confusion and indifference toward high definition, which has kept the technology from reaching mass adoption and becoming the important revenue stream that it can be for the industry.”

Le sigh. Hopefully the price of dual-disc players will start coming down.

I guess Susong’s open box purchase tipped the scale for WB.

They probably knew how much potential Blu-ray usage he would have between the hours of 10pm and 3am each weekday night and had no other option.

Incidentally, Susong during that same time period also keeps Miller Lite in business.

And then Starbux & Aleve in business in the morning…
