The hybrid player has apparently leaked 2 weeks earlier than planned to CompUSA stores (the article mentions a store in Texas) with a price tag of $1,199. The player was showcased playing both Blu-Ray discs and HD DVD discs at the Consumer Electronics Show 2007 and was named the Best of CES by CNET.

The player is not branded with the official HD DVD logo (despite what the photo above depicts), since it was not approved by the DVD Forum, and does not support HD DVD’s interactivity features, known as iHD.

Also making news is the Total Hi Def disc from Warner Bros that contains both Blu-Ray and HD DVD formats on the same disc and will not cost “materially” more than normal DVD’s. Look for these in the second half of ‘07.
